HOW DID MYBLINDCO COME TO BE?

Our CEO's Story

“Eight years ago, I was on a sales call for Honeycomb Shades. It was a nice quote of 40 windows and I was just about to save the quote when the software crashed. I was so frustrated at that moment – words do not do justice. I was tempted to give up the computer and go back to creating quotes on paper. Knowing my handwriting, I realized that would not be smart for many reasons!

I thought, “There has to be a better way.”

From that point on, I dedicated countless hours and resources to one goal:  develop an APP for window treatment businesses to help us do our jobs more efficiently, making us more profitable and more professional. We developed MyBlindCo to solve a problem that has plagued this industry since before I entered it over 20 years ago. There has not been a software available that integrates a customer management tool with a pricing software; one that is easy to use, fast, reliable, and produces elegant, professional quotes for our customers.

We looked at all the issues that I have been challenged with as a business owner and developed a software that makes the job easier, giving you more time to spend with your family. As a Dad of three, I know how important that is. I have been using MyBlindCo for my own retail business for over 7 years now. It has helped me grow from a modest $500K business to over $2.5M; I attribute this success to MyBlindCo. I close 80% of the jobs in the home, I have increased profit margins due to higher retail prices, and make less mistakes. I have recently hired two new salespeople who were up and quoting in no time. It cuts down on my work load and data entry, giving me more time with the ones I love. We know it will do the same for you.

Brian McGrath

Brian has 10 years in the IT field exclusively developing software and internal processes for SMB’ in the window covering industry.

He has 23 years in the window covering industry as a retail business owner and 15 years in the window covering industry as an installer. The first 15 years in parallel with the retail ownership.

He spent 8 years in the aluminum manufacturing sector setting up factories in Russia, France and the United States. Brian has an intimate understanding of how the manufacturing floor works.

Audra McGrath

Audra graduated from the College of William & Mary with a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration. In her Junior year of college, she was hired by Anderson Consulting; now Accenture, a business integration and consulting firm, as a software analyst. She resigned there as an Experience Manager after 9 years. During her time with Accenture; she worked on and eventually lead many software development projects; from Requirements Definition to software builds and to deployments. She resigned to join Brian at the Blind, Shade & Shutter Co.

Audra is the Product Manager for MyBlindCo and is responsible for:
- Product Development; completes product design specifications
- Managing product updates needed based on Manufacturer changes and price increases
- Managing tickets and action items for Technical Team; enters product issues found in production
- Point of contact for product design questions

Marion has a bachelors degree from NOVA Southeastern University. She helps manage the day-to-day operations as well as new and existing customer relations and support. Marion has many years of business experience, was a former educator and is fluent in 3 languages. She has been with MyBlindCo since June of 2020.

Abigail graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Bachelor of Arts in English (Concentration: Creative Nonfiction Writing) and a minor in Psychology, which she believes perfectly blend the creative and analytical skills necessary for effective marketing. Abigail manages all of the digital marketing side, from crafting email newsletters and text campaigns, to overseeing website design and our online presence.
